  • The aftercare of your tattoo will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once it has fully healed. Tattoos generally take 2-3 weeks to heal, and up to a few months to fully settle into the skin. Follow the steps below to ensure happy healing!

    • Always wash hands before touching your new tattoo.
    • Wear your bandage for around 1 hour then remove it. Use warm water and mild unscented soap to gently wash away any ointment, ink, blood and/or plasma and completely clean the area.
    • Gently pat dry with a paper towel. Do not use a facecloth. Do not rub.
    • Apply a very thin even layer of unscented water-based moisturizer (ie. Lubriderm). Pat off extra lotion if you applied too much. You should have no build up of ointment on your tattoo. Do not use Vaseline, Polysporin, or oil based moisturizers. Do not use coconut oil as it will smother the tattoo and prevent proper healing.
    • You will need to wash your new tattoo 2 to 4 times daily as above and re-apply moisturizer as needed.
    • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattoo. Do not rebandage.
    • Avoid picking or scratching. Ideally, after a few days the skin will form a peel like a sunburn. Peeling and flaking is a normal part of the natural healing process. Allow this to slough-off on its own. It will also start to itch as the skin starts to heal itself, resist the urge to scratch. Applying lotion and gentle pats can help calm the itch. Picking or scratching your tattoo while healing will damage your tattoo.
    • Avoid bodywash, lotions and shampoos that have fragrances while healing.
    • Do not submerge your tattoo in water, this includes swimming and baths. Showering is fine, make sure to wash your tattoo gently.
    • Avoid direct exposure to the sun. Cover with clothing for two weeks. Do not put sunscreen on a healing tattoo. After the tattoo has fully healed you will want to wear sunscreen over it when spending long periods of time in the sun.
    • Shower after any physical activity.

    * If an infection occurs, this includes intense swelling, pain, redness, warmth, or weird smell several days after the procedure, please contact a physician and the tattoo artist immediately.

If you take proper care of your tattoo and still need a touch up, first touch up is free. Please make sure you schedule your touch up within THREE MONTHS of the original tattoo date, to ensure all ink is settling in and aging at the same rate. Any touch up done after this period will require an artist specific touch up fee.
